Founded in 2008 through an agreement between the Ministry of Culture and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Aquileia Foundation, as the managing body of the UNESCO site of Aquileia, is responsible for preparing strategic plans, promoting the development of cultural tourism, co-financing interventions, indirectly managing enhancement activities, and implementing research, conservation, and restoration of the assets granted for use. Among the main goals of the Foundation is the creation of a living archaeological park integrated into the social and urban fabric of Aquileia and included in the network of museums and sites of national archaeological historical interest.
